Day three at Shot Show 2009 was spent mostly in Law Enforcement / Tactical. Im far more comfortable in the Hunting & Outdoor section and a lot of this stuff was over my head. I know an AK from an AR from an MP5 and so on, but one brand from another, not so much. Most of the gear was for things I knew little about, but one thing I found interesting were the med packs. The survival and Medical packs on display in Law Enforcement / Tactical seemed far more complete then the ones in hunting. The small ones in outdoor wear would be fine for scrapes, small burns or maybe a large cut. It may just be me, but when I hunt, I want a first aid that can stop a gunshot wound for bleeding out, call me crazy. If you do any kind of shooting, you need a good med kit. The last thing I want is to be in the woods with a G.S.W and a boo-boo kit.
I did find a one thing in Law Enforcement / Tactical that I found the most fascinating at Shot Show , it’s called Shocknife. It’s a training knife designed to be realistic for the police. Most of the time, police use rubber, wood or plastic to train for a knife attack. They found that its not real enough to know when they have been cut, let alone how react to the pain. Shocknife is an electric knife that tricks the nerves in your skin to believe that you have been cut. On its low setting, it feels like a paper cut, but when it breaks contact, the feeling goes away. When they cut me I jump a little. It messes with your head. I was looking for the cut that was not there. On high setting it feels like a large cut even thru close. So when police train, it feels like a real fight. Now they are preparing to be cut, not just going thru the motion. The more realistic the training the better you are in battle. This thing is way cool.
Day three of Shot Show did have its share of people sighing autograph pictures. Fusion had MMA champ. Brock Lesner. I got an autograph for my friend Ted. The Outdoor channel had Jim Zumbo of Jim Zumbo Outdoors and Wounded Warriors. I missed Jim but saw Lee & Tiffany Lakosky the host of Crush with Lee & Tiffany. I got a picture for myself, and yes tiffany is as cut in person as on TV.
Day three want by faster then the first two. It was time to head back to eat and get some sleep. All the walking was starting to catch up to me. The next was day four, the last day of Shot Show 2009.
